Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Responsible to keep a pulse on key competitive activity and for delivering competitive landscape insights, analyses and actionable strategic insights that help direct Cummins’ tactics and long-term strategies.

  • Monitor and highlight ongoing shifts in key market and industry movements globally.

  • Direct in-depth analyses of competitor offerings and strategies with a deep understanding of their pricing, products, channels, and brand positioning.

  • Combine industry trends, business performance, and market research to develop hypotheses on future market dynamics and communicate a strategic point of view to drive decision-making.

  • Provides comprehensive analytic marketing research for markets, products, and customers in support of the strategic and business planning process. Researches, verifies, and organizes complex market trend, competitive intelligence, and sales data.

  • Partners with business leaders, market strategy leads, and cross-functional subject matter experts on market research goals.

  • Designs the direction of market research methodology, data collection, and analysis in support of brand and business performance.

  • Synthesizes relevant data and makes insightful recommendations; presents information to executive business leadership.

  • Oversees the monitoring of critical market developments; communicates market trends and competitive intelligence.

  • Establishes and maintains a strong, reliable market research network of professionals.

  • Estimates sales potential and application of new products to facilitate evaluation of organization's competitive position.

  • Participate in sales planning and in short- and long-term forecasting.

  • Coaches and motivates marketing staff; provides guidance and direction on problems and issues; delegates works assignments considering employee skills and development needs.

  • Identifies department issues, problems, and opportunities to support continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Provide subject matter expertise to others in the organization.

Qualifications

Skills

Market Analysis - Able to deploy local processes to attain the most critical market information required to develop a specific product/product line plan.

Gathering And Understanding Voice Of The Customer (Voc) - Knows the function of the information behind the gathering and understanding voice of the customer (Voc). The Expert is able to suggest changes to the process and test those changes to verify acceptability.

Market Opportunity Prioritization - Understands strategy process, can assess projects against strategic relevance to business and works with stakeholders effectively to align work.

Market Research - In depth understanding of industry market research standards and techniques. Experience with design, and the ability to complete analysis to make effective recommendations.

Develop Marketing Plan - Understands strategic marketing plan contents and is able to provide input to the plan.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in sales, marketing, or a related subject required. MBA or equivalent degree preferred.

Experience

  • Significant level of relevant and related work experience, including supervisory experience, required.

  • Experience with design, and the ability to complete analysis to make effective recommendations.

  • 5 years of experience in B2B-oriented Competitive Intelligence, Market Research or Market Analysis experience required.

  • Proven ability to conduct competitive analysis, business/industry research, and strong understanding of field marketing and intelligence.

  • Excellent writing and analysis skills/Strong verbal communication/Strong interpersonal skills required.

  • Ability to influence stakeholders and proactively lead/drive cross-collaborative projects with other organizations, is a strong success factor.

  • Analytical and a strategic thinker.

  • Energetic and enthusiastic/Self-starter who mostly works independently but can also work collaboratively on projects when required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
